Ilhan Omar’s Father’s Background Resurfaces Amid Controversy
Journalist Ashley Rindsberg has pointed out that mainstream outlets have often dismissed claims about Ilhan Omar’s father and his supposed involvement in the Somali Marxist Siad Barre administration as mere conspiracy theories. However, Rindsberg asserts that there’s evidence that suggests otherwise.
“Omar came to the U.S. through a refugee program, which gave her a special opportunity for citizenship,” he explains. It appears this claim holds some validity.
“This information has been buried by the so-called fact-checking industry and major media. They labeled it as ‘misinformation’ and branded it an attack on Muslims,” he adds.
He also notes, “Her father was a prominent figure in that same administration.”
This raises some interesting questions: How can he claim to have distanced himself from that government while simultaneously portraying himself as a so-called “teacher trainer”?
Lynsberg mentions that, in media narratives, being labeled a “teacher trainer” seemed admirable. Yet, Wheeler suggests it might actually be a significant warning sign, especially given the regime’s ideological background.
“To me, that phrase lacks credibility. It’s almost comical,” Wheeler states.
Rindsberg further mentions that after Omar’s father passed away in 2020, several local Somali and English language outlets in Minnesota published obituaries that spotlighted his role as a colonel in the administration. “They appeared proud of it,” he notes.
