Socialist Victory in NYC Mayoral Primary
Zoran Mamdani, a socialist candidate, has emerged victorious in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor, despite Andrew Cuomo’s deep ties to a prominent Democratic family in New York.
On The Liz Wheeler Show, host Liz Wheeler commented, “Zohran Mamdani has achieved numerous victories, and it wasn’t even close.” However, she noted that his win isn’t based on charisma or an impressive campaign strategy. “It’s really about the demographics of the voters who supported him,” she explained.
In New York City, a significant 65% of registered voters are Democrats, while only 11% identify as Republicans, and 21.1% are independents. The city has 5.1 million registered voters, with an average age of 49, marking the older millennial demographic.
Within this group, there are approximately 750,000 to 850,000 voters from Generation Z, aged 18 to 29. Additionally, between 1.6 million and 1.8 million voters are aged 30 to 49.
“This suggests that around 2.5 million registered voters in NYC represent what I refer to as ‘indoctrinated children,’” Wheeler stated. “A closer look at those who voted for Mamdani reveals a liberal, college-educated white demographic, contrasting with the working-class supporters of Cuomo.”
Wheeler continued, suggesting that radical left-wing ideals have been effectively introduced into mainstream society, especially among younger voters. She characterized the current university climate as increasingly hostile to conservative views, asserting that a pervasive sense of disdain for America is evident.
She discussed the normalization of ideologies such as socialism and Marxism, claiming they are rejected by the institutions in favor of a more secular worldview. “It seems like the indoctrination is just getting more severe, especially for Gen Z.”
Overall, Wheeler’s perspective emphasizes a concerning trend where education systems may reinforce revolutionary thoughts among youth. “If we use the term ‘inexplicable children,’ it can often align with them voting in ways that seem morally right to them,” she concluded.
