Celebrity Outrage Over Trump’s Military Action in Venezuela
Following President Donald Trump’s military operation that resulted in the arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, many left-leaning celebrities in Hollywood quickly demanded his impeachment. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi mentioned serious charges against Maduro, including narco-terrorism conspiracy and possession of illegal firearms, among others.
Jon Cryer, known for his role in Two and a Half Men, expressed his frustration in a brief post on Blue Sky, simply stating, “Impeach now!” His comment came after Colorado Democratic Representative Joe Neguse labeled Trump’s actions as “unconstitutional.”
Actress Mia Farrow didn’t hold back, urging for Trump’s impeachment. She claimed, “Trump and his billionaire oil cronies want Venezuela’s oil.” In her opinion, it was time for the government to step up and make the right decisions for both America and global allies.
Mark Ruffalo, a star from Marvel movies, took to social media as well, drawing alarming parallels between Trump and Adolf Hitler. He was not alone; several other celebrities like Stephen King and Wendell Pierce echoed sentiments suggesting that Trump’s moves were motivated by oil interests.
Ruffalo pointed out a troubling trend, saying, “The madman wanted a noble peace prize. He has bombed seven countries…” His comments reflected a growing concern about the implications of military action under Trump’s leadership.
Stephen King noted, “Mr. Maduro is not a good person, but neither is Putin, and Trump has welcomed him. This situation isn’t really about drugs—it’s about oil, which, in a way, is a kind of drug.” A mixed message perhaps, yet an interesting point brought to light.
In contrast, George Takei reiterated that military actions must receive Congressional approval, stating, “The president’s actions are unjust and unconstitutional. The military strikes on Venezuela need to stop immediately.” His strong stance shows the increasing frustration among those who believe in constitutional checks and balances.
Rob Delaney, known for his comedic roles, even suggested a more sinister agenda, implying that Trump’s actions might relate to plans for expanding a detention network in Venezuela.
Ellen Barkin, a veteran actress, critiqued Trump’s handling of the situation, saying he appears disoriented and unprepared during public addresses. “His incoherent babble is struggling to get past the roll of cotton in his foul mouth,” she wrote, reflecting the disbelief many feel regarding the president’s capabilities.
As the fallout from these events continues, it’s clear that this military operation has ignited significant debate and outcry from various figures in entertainment, reflecting broader concerns about U.S. foreign policy and Trump’s role in it.
