“The View” co-hosts appeared to panic Monday over the possibility of a third party spoiling President Biden in the 2024 presidential election, insisting there was “no room” in the race. .

Co-host Sunny Hostin said she was “very concerned” about potential spoilers, referring to Jill Stein’s 2020 candidacy.

“I learned today that when Jill Stein ran for office and it was Trump vs. Hillary, there were three states where Stein’s total vote total exceeded Trump’s margin of victory: Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. So if Jill Stein hadn’t been in the election, there might have been a Hillary Clinton. She would have been president,” Hostin said.

Co-host Ana Navarro said she remembered when Ross Perot was a spoiler for George H.W. Bush.

Manchin hints at third-party investment after Super Tuesday: ‘People are looking for options’

She argued that while both Mr. Bush and his Democratic opponent at the time, Bill Clinton, were good, “normal” people, this election was very different.

“In this case, Joe Biden, a normal, sane, decent human being, is standing up against someone who poses an existential threat to our democracy, to a foreign country, to the international world, to the universe. So this is not a problem. Normally, “Oh, you know what? We can afford to play spoilers. We can afford to let Manchin run around,” Navarro continued.

Co-host Alyssa Farrar Griffin said she acknowledged to some extent that Mr. Biden is a weaker candidate than Mr. Trump, despite concerns about spoiler effects.

“Every time this conversation comes up, I feel like we’re all tacitly admitting that Biden is weaker than Trump. That’s what it sounds like to me, because if Trump were to actually become a general, Biden would be weaker than Trump. If we’re weaker, doesn’t that mean we’re weaker than Biden?” Shouldn’t we be worried about him losing more votes? ” she asked.

Manchin says he can ‘absolutely’ see himself as president, thinks Biden’s health or Trump conviction could open the way for him

In response, Navarro said Trump supporters are “cult members” while Biden supporters are “normal people.”

Griffin said he did not believe that 40 million Americans were cult members and suggested that some believed the economy was better under the former president. Co-host Sarah Haines insisted there was “no room” for third-party candidates in the 2024 election.

“Now is not the time for a third party to intervene. As we know, change comes very slowly in this country. It takes time to watch history unfold in this country, for better or for worse. .Right now we’re in a bipartisan situation.Alyssa, I agree, but polls show that people are generally not very enthusiastic about the candidates at this point, so there’s no room for that to change. No, I’m on a third party on a split ticket, but there’s no room to replace it and hope we move forward after this election,” Haines said.

Whoopi Goldberg asked Liz Cheney in a recent interview on The View if she would consider running as a third party candidate for president, and also implored the former Republican to run. Get down on one knee. ”
