Therapist who shared anti-Semitic rant attributes it to hackers

A therapist from Long Island has vanished from social media after an online outburst directed at a Jewish woman, in the midst of the Israeli-Hamas conflict. During this incident, she reportedly said, “the Germans should have finished your kind,” which has sparked significant outrage.

As a consequence, Gines Nelson, the Elmont social worker in question, was removed from various therapy listings. There’s active discussion about taking further steps to expunge her from platforms like Zocdoc, and there’s a movement underway to petition New York State regarding her licensure.

Nelson’s inflammatory Instagram comment surfaced on July 7, responding to a meme shared by families of hostages held by Hamas, urging for the return of the individuals taken.

The meme read, “Hamas still holds the bodies of 28 murdered hostages. These aren’t just numbers; they’re people stolen from their families. It’s pure cruelty that must end.”

In her reaction, Nelson questioned, “And how many people did your people kill?” and followed with a shocking comment, “Anyone who can agree with this is a real monster.”

Eric Post, director at a Long Island institution, condemned such rhetoric, emphasizing the need for a firm stance against anti-Semitism, especially at a time when Jewish communities face rising hostility.

Currently licensed to practice in New York City, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, Nelson has not responded to requests for clarification.

Her assistant mentioned that Nelson’s accounts had been hacked, but didn’t provide any evidence to support this claim.

In addition to her counseling work, which focuses on addiction, depression, and anxiety using cognitive-behavioral therapy, Nelson also claims involvement in real estate, specifically in securing housing for traveling medical professionals. She advises her clients to find alternate treatment options.

An Instagram account promoting opposition to anti-Semitism has criticized her actions, labeling them as a stark reminder to be wary of healthcare providers who display such beliefs.
