There’s ‘Real Economic Competition’ ‘Between Immigrant Labor and Black Labor’

“There's real economic competition between immigrant workers and black workers, especially in the service sector and other areas,” Van Jones, a senior CNN political commentator and former adviser to President Obama, said on CNN's “AC360” broadcast on Tuesday. And given this dynamic, it's commendable that the black community is in favor of immigration.

“Given the fact that there is real economic competition between immigrant workers and black workers in the service sector and other areas, I think the black community, particularly who have been staunch allies of the Latino community and have been as pro-immigration as they have been, should be commended,” Jones said. “Listen, Kamala Harris still has a lot of room to grow, even with the black vote. She really does, because she's only been running for president for a few weeks and she's been able to unify the party and make progress. … The more people listen to Kamala Harris, the more I like her. I would love to see her go round barbershops and listen to African Americans, to men and respond to the concerns that are raised in real time. She has some good answers.”
