Government princes who love you want to wish you a happy New Year, not confetti and champagne.
Instead, the new year begins with a flurry of terrifying new laws.
To kick off the celebration, Gov. Gavin Newsom just signed a bill requiring fast food chains operating in California to pay their employees at least $20 an hour.
“Why not make it $100 an hour?” Glenn Beck points out that the law doesn't seem to recognize how business actually works, and that if companies can't pay their labor, He scoffed, pointing out that he would have to lay off employees.
“We can't just print money like we do in the United States,” he added.
But California's festivals are only getting more exciting. The state is also enacting a new law that would allow companies that sell toys to be fined if they don't sell gender-neutral toys.
Toys must be clearly marked and separated, and stores that fail to do so will be fined $250 for the first violation and $500 for each subsequent violation.
Glenn believes there is one clear reason for this new law.
“To be clear, this store will comply,” he explains.
Illinois will allow non-citizens to become police officers and sheriffs and require landlords under state law to rent or sell property to non-citizens and illegal aliens, the worst state in 2024. Some of the new laws may succeed.
The state is also suspending state funding for public and school libraries that ban books for political reasons, including books that promote LGBTQ+ ideology.
“I'm noticing a trend with some of these laws,” Glenn says.
