Minnesota Residents React to Anti-ICE Sentiment

There’s a noticeable tension regarding ICE in Minnesota, with many residents appearing to be quite engaged—perhaps even alarmed—by this ongoing situation.

According to a host, these suspicions can get odd: “If you’re driving an SUV or staying at certain hotels, some people might think you’re affiliated with ICE,” he remarked. “It’s almost ridiculous.”

He elaborated: “For instance, a person with short hair and fair skin could easily be considered an ICE member, leading to harassment. It’s a thoughtless approach.” He continued, “Families arriving from out of town just trying to find a place to stay might face strange intolerances.”

Imagine travelers settling down for a break, only to be disturbed by people outside, who might be yelling accusations at ICE agents who have already moved on. It’s a concerning reality for them.

Interestingly, some locals have even resorted to using a specific app to track individuals they suspect might be working for ICE, although this often leads to mistaken identities. “They really don’t grasp the complete picture every time, but, I guess, that just shows a sort of obsessive behavior,” he observed.

In one notable incident, a woman publicly plotted ways to disrupt the agency’s operations to prevent deportations. “It’s wild to see someone so openly contemplate committing severe acts,” he noted after showing a clip that featured her plans.

The woman even suggested using dating apps to find potential ICE agents, offering rather drastic measures to incapacitate them. “What could possibly go wrong?” was his incredulous reaction to such thoughts.

He was struck, not just by the absurdity of her ideas, but by her seemingly proud demeanor while discussing them.
