Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida claimed on Fox News on Thursday that members of Congress are “hearing” that President Joe Biden will not be the Democratic nominee in November.
Luna appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” to discuss the recent meetings Republican lawmakers had with former President Donald Trump on Thursday morning. Fox host Jesse Watters asked Luna about the policies discussed in the private meetings, and Luna revealed some of Trump’s thinking on foreign affairs. “Obviously his No. 1 issue is his concern about what’s going on right now, particularly in Russia,” Luna said. “There’s been a real silence in the media about what’s going on in Russia, about the warships off the coast of Cuba, off the coast of Florida. But more importantly, he’s made sure the American people know that what’s happening right now in Ukraine and Israel would never have happened under his command, and that he has a plan and a solution moving forward.”
“I also want to point out that he understands that world leaders respect him, and that many perceive Joe Biden as an unlikely candidate based on what’s currently coming out of the White House,” she continued. “This is what we’re hearing in Congress. [Kevin] Kylie: Kamala Harris [is] In fact, I’m even considering running for Governor of California because of this.”
“Yes, that’s the backup plan. So are we hearing in Washington that Joe Biden can’t be the Democratic nominee?” Watters asked.
“Exactly,” Luna responded. “It appears that my colleagues are trying to put guardrails on a 2024 presidential election with President Trump. And our research shows that, as you know as I do, they’re trying to paint the Republican Party as anti-women, and they’re trying to stoke the abortion crisis in this election, which I don’t think is the case. I think a lot of the American people know that this is a states’ rights decision, and they know they’re losing. It’s very clear at this point.”
According to Politico, reports are circulating that Democratic Party officials are panicking over the possibility that Biden could lose to Trump in the 2024 election. Recent polls have not only shown Trump leading Biden in key battleground states, but he is also gaining support from key Democratic voters. For example, a recent New York Times/Siena College poll found that: poll, Despite Biden winning with more than 60% of black voters in 2020, Trump narrowed his lead among them by winning 20%.
