Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates — President Trump announced on Friday that the White House plans to implement unilateral tariffs soon.

“There are about 150 countries we aim to trade with, but we aren’t seeing much movement,” Trump stated at a business roundtable in Abu Dhabi.

“So, in the next two or three weeks, I believe Scott and Howard will be sending out letters to inform businesses. We’re being fair, but we’ll outline what it costs to do business in the US,” he added.

The President initially introduced significant tariffs during his “liberation date” tariffs on April 2, raising fees according to what his administration considered appropriate based on US rates.

On April 9, he paused these tariffs for 90 days and initiated direct trade discussions to secure better fees for the US, setting a general rate of 10% except for China, where it stood at 145%.

Since then, the White House has reached an agreement with the UK, maintaining a 10% tariff while also expanding the US agricultural market.

Trade advisor Peter Navarro previously mentioned that US trade representative Jamieson Greer met with representatives from other countries in July to outline upcoming plans, hinting at more trade transactions in the future.
