Thick smoke was seen billowing from a high-rise building under construction near One World Trade Center on Wednesday morning after a fire broke out on the roof of the building.
No injuries were reported in the construction house fire at 125 Greenwich St., and firefighters were dispatched around 9:20 a.m., according to the FDNY.
Officials said the fire started in an air conditioning system on the roof of the 72-story building.
Construction worker Jerson Valencia confirmed to the Post that smoke was coming from the building’s air conditioning ducts.
“There were welders there,” Valencia explained.
Video of the fire shows large amounts of black smoke rapidly rising from the top of the skyscraper.
Social media posters also pointed out that the ominous smoke was not far from One World Trade.
Twenty units, including 78 firefighters and paramedics, responded to the early morning blaze.
The fire was under control by 10:06 a.m., authorities said.
Fire officials are investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
