Jewel Burglar Convicted in Kim Kardashian Robbery Case
A French court has convicted a man involved in the high-profile 2016 robbery of TV star Kim Kardashian, where she was bound at gunpoint and stolen from—totaling around $4 million in jewelry, including an engagement ring.
During the trial, which included ten defendants linked to the robbery, Kardashian provided testimony, expressing that she felt her life was in danger during the incident.
A mixed panel of judges found eight of the ten accused guilty of theft-related charges, with another individual convicted of illegal weapon possession. Only one defendant was acquitted.
The harshest sentences were handed to five individuals who took part directly in the heist, along with the 69-year-old ringleader, each receiving three years in prison.
Kardashian’s legal team stated they accepted the court’s ruling. In her own words, she expressed gratitude towards French authorities for their efforts in achieving justice, describing the robbery as one of the most terrifying experiences of her life that has had long-lasting effects on her and her family. “I will never forget what happened,” she admitted. However, she spoke also about the importance of growth and healing.
She noted that she forgave Khedache, one of the defendants, for seeking forgiveness during her court appearance.
The media dubbed the criminals “grandpa robbers” as many were older, close to retirement age. At the time, the heist was labeled the largest robbery in France in over two decades.
