Former Texas Children's Hospital surgeon and whistleblower Ethan Heim faces major legal challenge after revelations the hospital secretly provided “gender-affirming care” to minors facing.
Eisan is currently under a “de facto gag order” or “non-gag order” and his wife, Andrea Heim, is speaking out on his behalf.
“The world's largest children's hospital lied to the public about the existence of a transgender program for children. As a result of his whistleblowing, the Texas Legislature banned transgender minors from caring for them in Texas. passed FB14, a law that would allie beth stuckey “I can empathize with it.”
Eisan has been charged with four felonies for what Andrea calls “completely trumped-up and baseless HIPAA violations,” which he has been fighting since June 2023.
“Some of his colleagues said they were implanting devices in children as young as 11 to prevent puberty,” Andrea explained, adding: “The fact that they were doing this to children who claimed to have gender dysphoria was really surprising.”
“We started looking into it more and the first thing we did was Google Texas Children’s transgender program, which didn’t exist on the internet,” she continues. “The only thing we have been able to confirm is a March 2022 statement stating that Texas Children's Hospital is closing its program due to an opinion from the Texas Attorney General that these procedures may be considered child abuse under Texas law. I made it clear that I would cancel it.”
“But they never acknowledged that they had reopened, so I was surprised to hear that these processes are still going on,” she says.
So, Andrea decided to personally participate in a Zoom conference hosted by the Baylor College of Medical Ethics in January 2023.
“What we learned is that Texas Children's Hospital has an extensive transgender medical program. They implant puberty blockers and prescribe puberty blockers to children as young as 11 years old. And they started doing this just three days after they announced they were pausing or stopping the program,” Andrea explains.
“There were doctors in the program who were prescribing puberty blockers to children and who agreed to put their children on puberty blockers. “He said he was telling parents that there was a need,” she continued. It tells us that the doctors used the line, “Would you rather have a living son or a dead daughter?”
“I think this is one of the most egregious lies surrounding transgender medical care for children,” she added.
