Most people agree that technology is negatively impacting society in many ways. But many of those same people probably don’t realize that: how The damage is severe.
Dave Rubin invites Dr. Phil on the show to discuss what the statistics tell us about our hyper-digital world. And it’s not just a pretty picture.
“We’re glad we have the technology, but we have to start using it instead of abusing it,” says Dr. Phil.
Misinformation on the internet, AI and deepfakes, cyberbullying, and sextortion (though certainly not in scope) have thrown society, especially the younger generation, into turmoil.
It has created an epidemic that calls into question our very souls.
“When I say the soul of America, I’m talking about the true core of what defines this country, the core values that we don’t think about every day, but are at the heart of what defines America. “It’s morality, it’s the North Star that guides us in the direction we’ve been led for 250 years,” he explains.
“I saw a study the other day that showed that most young people don’t have any good friends at all. They have tens of thousands of likes, clicks, and followers, but on average they only have one good friend. There aren’t any. That’s what I mean when I say the soul of America. The things that made us such great examples shining on the hill that everyone wants to be a part of are being lost as we no longer interact. We no longer accept those values. ”
