Contemplating the 2028 Presidential Election

The 2028 presidential race might seem distant, yet The Washington Post’s recent piece suggests that the Democratic Party is already starting to focus on potential candidates. 

Blaze TV’s Pat Gray isn’t too thrilled about this development. Still, he mentions that one candidate could create challenges for Republicans.

Gray highlights that Democrats have decided South Carolina will be the first state to vote in the primary process, aiming to enhance the representation of Black voters. He believes this move is tied to the prominence of Kamala Harris, the former Vice President and 2024 nominee, who appears quite popular among Black women.

He notes her efforts to engage voters for the midterm elections by promoting her controversial plan to eliminate the electoral college and expand the Supreme Court, commenting, “Oh, that— that can’t happen.”

Names like Gavin Newsom and Josh Shapiro are being floated as candidates, yet Gray expresses skepticism towards Shapiro’s chances, suggesting that the party is currently anti-Semitic and might overlook him.

Another widely recognized name in the mix is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Gray remarks on the surge of democratic socialists, crediting them for the New York mayor’s election and pointing out their success in Michigan’s recent primary. However, he quips that her stance on Israel doesn’t align with the Democratic Socialists of America’s expectations, implying she falls short.

Mark Kelly emerges as a “terrifying possibility,” according to Gray, who describes him as a “former astronaut veteran.” There’s a feeling that, after Joe Biden’s exit, there was some initial hope that Obama might step back in, rather than supporting Harris, a notion Jeff Fisher supports while also revealing his own issues with Trump.

Gray also mentions Pete Buttigieg, noting that failing to include him in the discussion could be considered homophobic, which he found amusing.

Gretchen Whitmer rounds out the list, but Gray seems to think her moment has passed. “She’s a nightmare,” Fisher asserts, while Gray adds, “I think she’s gone.”
