Democratic Candidate’s Controversial Marketing Tactic

Kirk Bangstad, a Democratic candidate and owner of Minocqua Brewing Company in Wisconsin, has turned provocative remarks about President Donald Trump’s demise into a marketing ploy. However, this strategy seems to have backfired, as it has caught the attention of federal law enforcement due to its incendiary nature.

The Beginning

In January, Bangstad promised to provide “free beer all day long, even the day I die,” linking his comments to the failing presidency of Trump. His remarks came in the context of attempts to block the 2024 presidential election in Wisconsin.

Reports indicate that federal agencies are paying close attention to his statements. Indeed, in one instance, Bangstad referenced an attempt on the president’s life at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, joking on social media that “we’re about to get a #freebeerday” if Trump was assassinated. This casual tone drew sharp criticism.

The brewing company has since capitalized on the idea of celebrating Trump’s death, creating merchandise like T-shirts featuring voodoo dolls of Trump administration officials. Though they raised sales, reactions from various quarters were severe.

The Wisconsin Democratic Party quickly disavowed Bangstad’s comments, describing them as “dangerous and unacceptable.” This situation took a turn when Bangstad claimed he had been contacted by both the FBI and Secret Service. He then shared a voicemail from a supposed US Secret Service agent on Facebook, encouraging people to reach out to the agent directly.

In a tearful video, Bangstad accused the federal government of overreach, stating that it should not target anyone for their opinions. He shared that if he were to disappear, it would be due to governmental actions, not his own doing.

Despite the uproar, he continued to propagate the idea that law enforcement was trying to intimidate him. He maintained that his controversial posts were not meant to incite violence against Trump, emphasizing that his wording was intentional in how he described the former president.

The ongoing situation has left many wondering what the implications will be for Bangstad and whether his tactic will backfire completely. As of now, the federal investigations continue, and responses from both law enforcement and political figures remain varied and complex.
