Thomas Massie Warns DOJ Against Interfering with IG’s January 6 Report

According to a letter led by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) on Wednesday, if the Department of Justice (DOJ) is found to have blocked the release of the investigator general's report on the department's activities on January 6, , Attorney General Merrick Garland said he will be held accountable. .

Massey's letter, signed by 10 members of the House Judiciary Committee, stated that the same day the FBI placed a confidential human source (CHS) on Capitol grounds, the Justice Department delayed his eventual release. This followed testimony from the DOG inspector general who suggested that I will report on the matter.

In addition to Massey, Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), Representatives Ben Kline (R-VA), Chip Roy (R-TX), and Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Indiana) also joined the letter. , Barry Moore (R-AL), Dan Bishop (R-NC), Harriet Hagman (R-WY), and Matt Gaetz (R-FL).

Concerning the January 6, 2021 events at the Capitol, federal assets, specifically sensitive human intelligence sources (CHS), were present on Capitol grounds during the January 6, 2021, events. It emerged as a key piece of evidence that undermined the establishment media and federal government's narrative. . A few blocks away from the Capitol, President Trump is being indicted in federal court by Special Counsel Jack Smith on charges of election interference, in part for orchestrating the events at the Capitol. It stems from suspicion.

Massey's letter alleges that Garland “testified on June 4, 2024, that Inspector General Horowitz is 'independent' and that 'the decision to release the Inspector General's report is the Inspector General's decision.'” It reminded me of.

The letter reads, “I am writing to remind you of your commitment.''

On September 25, Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz testified before the House Weapons Committee that a draft report was being withheld by the Justice Department.

The investigation had already been paused by Speaker Pelosi's House Select Committee hearing on January 6, but Horowitz did not reopen it until 2023.

The Justice Department continues to ramp up prosecutions in the lead-up to the 2024 election, with several new charges filed in recent months, more than three and a half years since January 6th.

At the Sept. 25 hearing, Horowitz acknowledged that his draft report addresses CHS. Massey pressed Horowitz for evidence of the number of CHSs operating on the Capitol grounds on January 6th.

“Our report will include information on that,” he said when asked for exact numbers. So I have to be careful. ”

Horowitz said he hopes to release the report soon but has no plans to release it before the election, suggesting the timing of the classification review is outside of his control.

Massey believes politics are involved.

“Mr. Horowitz said that number would not be known before the election,” Massey said. Posted In X after the hearing. “Biden-Harris doesn't want the federal government's role in 1/6 to be known. Why?”

Massey's letter to Garland said, “If you, your subordinates, colleagues, members of Congress, or agents within the department take any action that delays or impedes the release of this report, Congress will They will be held accountable,” he warned.

If this report is released, it could significantly overturn the prevailing view of January 6th. If Garland and the Justice Department hold off on releasing the report until after the election, Congress could take action.

Mr. Horowitz's testimony strongly suggested that the report contained bombshell information.

Massey questioned Horowitz about how many classified sources entered the Capitol on January 6th. FBI protocol prohibits confidential intelligence sources from breaking the law — entitled to enter the Capitol without express written consent, as revealed in numerous Justice Department prosecutions. –.

“We're going to put that information in the report,” Horowitz said, adding that he doesn't yet know what is and isn't confidential.

Interestingly, Massey asked how many CHS were reimbursed for their trip to J6, to which Horowitz replied, “I can't remember that number as I'm sitting here,” before awkwardly leaving his gear. I changed my mind and made a vivid statement. I'm not in a position to tell you that. ”

The FBI is an agency of the Department of Justice and ultimately decides what is classified.
