‘Those children were hunted down and killed’: Oklahoma police stunned by family massacre where 10-year-old boy was unharmed

Families in the Oklahoma neighborhood are shocked and saddened. gruesome murder/suicide Police were notified on Monday.

A 10-year-old boy woke up to find his parents and three siblings shot to death and called police from his Oklahoma City home around 9:35 a.m., police said.

After investigating, police say Jonathon Candy, 42, got into an argument with his wife, Lindsay Candy, 39, in the middle of the night and shot her several times, killing her.

“At that point, he systematically entered the home and shot and killed the children,” said Sgt. Gary Knight told reporters at a press conference Tuesday.

“It’s unclear why he wanted to break into the house and kill the children,” he continued. “But make no mistake, what happened in that house was nothing short of a massacre. Those children were hunted down and killed.”

Investigators say Jonathon Candy shot and killed 18-year-old Dylan Candy, 14-year-old Ethan Candy, and 11-year-old Lucas Candy before turning the gun on himself.

Mr Knight said he was trying to figure out why the father killed three of his sons but left one son alive.

“I know that’s a question everyone has,” he said. “That’s a question we have too. At the end of the day, no one will have the answer to that.”

Investigators have so far not found a motive for the massacre, and there is a possibility that it will never be solved.

“We have not received any calls to the residence regarding domestic violence of any kind,” Knight said.

The Candy family’s neighbors and friends are equally stunned and horrified.

“I couldn’t even imagine it all day,” Michael Burcham told The Oklahoman. “He must have been really struggling.”

Ms Burcham said Jonathan Candy had previously disclosed that he suffered from depression.

Before the horrific massacre, Jonathon and Lindsey Candy were interviewed by news outlets and spoke glowingly about their local bakery and deli shop. With Lindsey by his side, Jonathan offered breakfast burritos and carrot cake.

The Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team confirmed that Jonathan Candy worked for the team as a part-time game night engineer.

The surviving children were placed with relatives. They are, gofundme A charity page to help with funeral costs and the boy’s care.
