Three Democrats gain significant backing in early 2028 presidential primary survey

A recent poll indicates that former Vice President Kamala Harris is leading among Democrats for the 2028 presidential primary. Released on Monday, the survey shows she has garnered 26% support from Democratic voters, despite her significant loss to President Trump in the 2024 election, as per Echelon’s Insight.

In this poll, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and California Governor Gavin Newsom followed, with 11% and 10% support, respectively. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) received 7%, while Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was close behind at 6%.

Meanwhile, entrepreneur Mark Cuban attracted 3% support from a group of less traditional candidates, with sports commentator Stephen A. Smith and comedian Jon Stewart both capturing 1%.

Interestingly, about 13% of voters expressed uncertainty regarding their preferred candidate. Without Harris in the race, Buttigieg and Newsom’s numbers slightly increased to 12%, and in that scenario, Ocasio-Cortez (9%) would take the lead, followed by Booker (8%) and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (7%) breaking into the top five.

On the Republican side, Vice President JD Vance holds a significant lead with 42% support, leading Florida Governor Ron DeSantis by 33 points. Other candidates trailing DeSantis include Secretary of State Marco Rubio (7%), former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (6%), Health Department’s Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (5%), and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy (4%).

Notably, 16% of respondents were unsure of their Republican choice.
