Firefighters Arrested on Child Molestation Charges
Three firefighters from a suburb in North Dallas were arrested Thursday, facing multiple child molestation charges involving the same underage victim, according to court documents.
Interestingly, two of the suspects had recently received community service awards prior to their arrest.
The individuals in question are identified as members of the Howe Fire Department in Grayson County: David Yoshimar Perez-Glass, Dalton Joe McCaslin, and Joshua Todd Ryals. They are charged with several felonies, including sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child involving sexual contact.
According to the complaint, the group allegedly targeted a 16-year-old junior firefighter who began volunteering at the department in January 2022. Reports indicate that Perez-Glass initiated inappropriate behavior during the girl’s first month at the fire station, and things escalated from there when they were alone.
Documents state, “Mr. Perez’s actions frightened her and eventually led to Mr. Perez hugging her, grabbing her, and throwing her onto the couch.” Despite the victim expressing discomfort and stating she was a virgin, Perez-Glass purportedly verbally assaulted her numerous times over the course of a year and had sexual relations with her on fewer than ten occasions.
Additionally, the man is accused of making threats to her, implying harm would come to her and her family if she reported the incidents.
According to the timeline of events, the abusive behavior reportedly ceased when the victim turned 17, at which point Perez-Glass lost interest in continuing the romantic relationship.
During the time the allegations came to light, Perez-Glass was awarded Firefighter of the Year by the Howe Fire Department and even received a promotion to lieutenant.
In relation to the others involved, McCaslin allegedly began a consensual relationship with the girl starting in December 2022. This was during a period when she would visit an apartment he shared with another firefighter. The complaint suggests they had private interactions while others were present but asleep.
Lastly, Ryals also admitted to having inappropriate contact with the victim while alone at the Howe Fire Station. He resigned just before his arrest and had recently been honored by the Melissa Fire Department as EMT of the Year.
Authorities from the Texas Rangers investigated the situation and completed the arrests of all three individuals. Perez-Glass and McCaslin are each charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child, while Ryals is facing two counts of indecency with a child involving sexual contact. All have been booked into the Grayson County Jail.
