Three Jewish students file lawsuit against UCLA for allowing ‘antisemitic activists’ to set up ‘Jew Exclusion Zone’ on campus

Three Jewish students have reportedly filed a civil rights lawsuit against the University of California Board of Regents and university officials. Fox News DigitalStudents claim they were prevented from walking to class by “anti-Semitic activists.”

Two law students and one undergraduate student allege that the university allowed protesters unrelated to student groups to camp on campus, resulting in Jewish students being barred from central campus areas, the report said.

“If masked agitators had been clearing out other marginalized groups at UCLA, Governor Newsom would, of course, have immediately deployed the National Guard.”

Anti-Israel activists demonstrated from May through April in protest of Israel’s response to the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on the Jewish state, in which Hamas terrorists massacred 1,200 Israelis and abducted hundreds more.

Los Angeles Times report Lawyers for the Jewish students said pro-Palestinian activists had set up checkpoints at their encampment on Lois Quad, and they claim that encampment leaders were only allowing entry to anti-Israel protesters.

“With the knowledge and tacit consent of UCLA officials, the activists implemented a de facto ‘Jew-free zone,’ segregating Jewish students and blocking their access to central areas of campus, including classroom buildings and the undergraduate library,” the lawsuit states.

“In many cases, activists set up barricades and linked arms to block the passage of those who refused to reject Israel.”

UCLA is not the only school facing lawsuits. Others reportedly include Rutgers University and Columbia University, which recently filed suit against the school. The lawsuit was settled. and Jewish students who claim the university fosters an “unsafe educational environment.”

The complaint also alleges that UCLA knew about the camp’s existence for a week but took no action, and that the university asked security guards to block non-students from entering the camp rather than removing it entirely.

“If masked agitators had been excluding other socially marginalized groups at UCLA, Governor Newsom would certainly have deployed the National Guard immediately,” Becket President and CEO Mark Rienzi said.

“Yet UCLA has caved in to anti-Semitic activists and allowed Jewish students to be isolated from the heart of campus. This is a serious and unlawful failure of leadership.”

“This is America in 2024, not Germany in 1939, and it is appalling that a top American university has become a hotbed of anti-Semitism,” Rienzi added. “UCLA officials should take responsibility for allowing the establishment of no-Jew zones and ensure that Jews will never again be segregated on campus.”
