Tragic Discovery of Missing Sisters in Wenatchee
Three young sisters who went missing near Wenatchee, Washington, were found dead while visiting their father, who is homeless. This prompted a major search effort for their father, Travis Decker.
The sisters—Paichin, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5—were discovered near their father’s vehicle at a campsite following an extensive search involving SWAT teams and a Homeland Security helicopter.
Initial amber alerts for the girls were canceled before their deaths were confirmed, which left their families in deep anguish. The police did not offer an explanation for the sudden cancellation.
Travis Decker, 32, had picked up the girls from their grandmother’s home for a planned visit. Hours before the sisters’ bodies were found, a warrant was issued for his arrest on three counts of first-degree interference.
Once the girls were located, the charges against Decker escalated to three counts of luring and first-degree murder. He had been living in various campsites and hotels with his dog after separating from the girls’ mother, Whitney Decker. In a statement made before the tragic discovery, she expressed concerns about his mental health but did not anticipate any violent behavior.
I just want to bring the girls home safely, she shared in a correspondence. Her main worry was their safety and well-being amid such a painful situation.
Travis has been dealing with significant struggles since leaving the military, Whitney mentioned in an interview. His mental health has presented challenges, though she emphasized that he loves his children deeply. It’s such a heartbreaking scenario that no one ever wants to face.
