Shooting at Evergreen High School Outside Denver

Three teenagers, reportedly including the alleged shooters, were taken to a hospital in critical condition following a shooting at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado. This incident happened around 12:30 PM on Wednesday, and all affected are thought to be students, according to a spokesperson from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

“This is a tragic situation unfolding near Denver,” said FBI director Kash Patel in a post. “The FBI is actively supporting local authorities to ensure everyone’s safety.”

The suspected shooter is believed to be a student from the school. Witnesses confirmed that responding officers did not discharge their weapons during the incident. While the shooting occurred on school grounds, it remains unclear whether it took place inside the building itself.

By mid-afternoon, all three teenagers were being treated at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado. Details about their injuries have not yet been released, and the identities of the shooter or potential additional shooters are still under investigation.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis expressed his concern on social media, stating, “I’m closely monitoring the situation and receiving live updates. State troopers are assisting local law enforcement. Students should feel safe attending school, and we are all keeping the victims and the community in our thoughts.”

Over 100 police officers responded to the scene, indicating the gravity of the situation in a school with more than 900 students. Notably, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was also involved in the response to the infamous 1999 Columbine High School shooting, which resulted in 14 fatalities.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has yet to comment further on the situation.
