California police announce illegal street car show became violent after the driver of a white truck crashed into one of the stunt cars, prompting bystanders to punch and shoot the man.
The bizarre attack was reported to have occurred at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Vallejo near Springs Road and Rollingwood Drive on Sunday around 5:30 p.m.
Vallejo Police Sergeant Rashad Hollis Said The driver of the pickup truck was reportedly blocked by a swerving vehicle. The video shows the truck entering the intersection and colliding with a Ford Mustang at the intersection.
Spectators began attacking the truck driver who tried to escape into a convenience store.
They chased him into a store and beat him, then ransacked the store and set his truck on fire. KTVU-TV reported that they stole cigarettes, candy, lottery scratch tickets and beer from the store.
Residents told KTVU they are angry about the lack of police response to illegal car shows in the city.
“Of course we’re frustrated. We’re angry. We don’t see the police. The police never show up. They don’t show up until 30 or 40 minutes after whatever happens,” Tom said. Said. Mr. Davis is a resident of the area.
witness told KGO-TV The illegal car show had been going on for quite some time before a white truck tried to drive through.
“At one point, we saw a white truck come into the entertainment venue. All the kids who were at the entertainment went and grabbed him from the truck and started destroying the car,” said a neighbor.
A man nicknamed “Big T” who works at a pawn shop at the intersection came to the driver’s defense.
“Yeah, he’s just an innocent guy trying to get to a destination and then being sacrificed or a sideshow. All they do is confuse everyone, and they’re dangerous and people It just hurts,” he said.
Vallejo Mayor Robert McConnell told KGO that he wants to increase penalties for those who participate in illegal car shows to deter incidents.
“I think it should be longer,” he said. “I want to watch the 90 Days. They’re just making fun of everyone else.”
Vallejo police said they are investigating but have not yet made any arrests.
