Thune (Rs.D.) criticized minority leader Chuck Schumer (dn.y.) for complaining about the House's continued resolution on Thursday. He said that if Schumer had any issues with his current situation, he should have provided funding to the government when he was in charge.

Thune pointed out the situation as Schumer refused to consider some of the budget bills passed in the past five months as a majority leader.

“I really hope Democrats remember this situation and how we worked with Republicans to restore the regular order budget process,” Thune said. “Continuous resolution is by no means a favorable option. But thanks to the Democratic leader's decision to abandon the 2025 appropriation budget process, our previous ongoing resolution is the best option to fund the government for the balance this year.”

Thune said when Schumer admits that his decision was what led them here.

The majority leader added that it is to schedule floor actions for each budget bill for fiscal year 2026.
