Tiger handler and 'Joe Exotic associate' killed by tiger at Oklahoma sanctuary

Officials report that Ryan Easley, a tiger handler affiliated with Joe Exotic, tragically died after being injured by a tiger at the Growler Pines Tiger Preserve in Oklahoma over the weekend.

The incident occurred on Saturday during what was described as an “accident.” A Facebook post conveys the sorrowful news.

“This tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the wildness and unpredictability of nature,” it reads. “Ryan was aware of these dangers—not out of recklessness, but from a deep-seated love for the animals.”

Easley’s parents shared how he not only cared for the animals but formed meaningful connections with them based on respect and affection.

Following the incident, the preserve, which offers guided tours and big cat training demonstrations, has suspended all activities until further notice.

His colleagues have described him as a fervent advocate for wildlife conservation.

Reportedly, Easley had acquired a tiger from Joe Maldonado, the imprisoned star of “Tiger King,” for his own business named “Showme Tigers.”

According to a statement from PETA, “He was devoted to protecting and caring for these remarkable creatures, believing firmly in Growler Pines’ mission to provide a safe and enriching environment for the animals.”

For Easley, working at Growler Pines was more than just employment; it was his life’s passion and purpose. His dedication and compassion for wildlife will be remembered.

The precise details surrounding Easley’s death remain unclear.

PETA emphasized the inherent dangers of human interaction with apex predators, urging wildlife exhibitors to transfer animals to certified sanctuaries where they can live peacefully.

As the story unfolds, much remains uncertain regarding the circumstances of Easley’s tragic passing.
