Tiger Woods is making his latest return to golf at Torrey Pines

Tiger Woods has promised to compete in his first official event since July.

The $20 million signature event will be held at Torrey Pines in San Diego. This is the course Woods has won eight times in his career.

There were doubts about whether Woods would compete in considering his back surgery in September, and the fact that his mother, Kurchida, passed away on Tuesday.

Despite this, Woods has promised to play and is hoping for a strong return.

Woods' legacy at Torrey Pines dates back to 1999 when he acquired his first Farmers Insurance. He shed tears from 2005-2008 after winning the event with Torrey Pines once more in 2003, where he won the event five times in a span.

In 2013 he grabbed his last invited Farmers Insurance victory so far, taking on his seventh victory in the event.

His eighth victory with the Torrey Pines took place at the 2008 US Open.

Woods also won eight times at Bayhill and Firestone, so these eight PGA Tours match his own record on one course.

This time, the event isn't the same as the event he won with the Tory Pines, but Woods wants the same success as the 12 years he was removed from his final victory.

The Genesis Invitational was hosted by Woods and moved to San Diego due to a wildfire that destroyed Pallisard in the Pacific Ocean in Los Angeles.

The Riviera Country Club was the usual hosting course for invitations and was not affected by the fire, but Woods moved the event to support the Pacific Palisades community.

In 2024, Woods performed just Five Events – Three of them missed a cut and retreated to 60th due to an injury to Genesis's invitation.
