A Texas Tech University graduate who killed his roommate in a horrific hit-and-run crash is breathing on his own during a two-month fight for his life, his family said.
Camryn Hereage, 23, has been on a ventilator since February 11 after her uncle shared an optimistic update about the TikTok star’s recovery.

Her uncle revealed there were “hopeful prospects” that his niece would be moved from the ICU to a “regular room” at the hospital in the “next week or so”.

Hereage’s roommate, Sarah House, 22, died in the crash, and several of her friends were injured.
Carmen Guerrero, 27, is accused of plowing into the rear of a Ford pickup truck carrying Hereage and a friend while they were waiting at a red light in Dallas at 110 mph. Fox 4 Dallas reported.
The accident, which caused a major car crash in a 35 mph zone, occurred just two blocks from Herridge’s apartment.
Witnesses to the fatal crash told police they saw Guerrero fleeing the scene on foot after hitting the car.
Witnesses said the suspect was “extremely intoxicated” and was “wearing a little black dress and white club shoes” as he fled.
Dallas police found Guerrero’s wallet in the back seat of an abandoned truck and arrested her 11 days after the accident.
After graduating from Texas Tech University in December, the 23-year-old moved into an apartment in Dallas with her closest friends.
According to LinkedIn, Herridge works for WonderTre, a social media management and branding company in Lubbock, Texas.
The house is frequently featured in videos on Hereage’s TikTok page, where it has amassed more than 32,000 followers.
A GoFundMe page set up for House after the tragic accident described the 22-year-old victim as a “bright spirit” with an “infectious laugh” who “brought light to every room she entered.” ” he called.
“Sarah was known for her caring personality and unwavering desire to make those around her happy. Her kindness and caring attitude touched the lives of many people and was loved by all who knew her. It left a lasting impression on everyone.”
Hereage’s sister, Casey Campanello, accused the hit-and-run driver of causing her loved one’s death through her “careless actions.”

Guerrero faces multiple charges including manslaughter, fatal crash and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail.
If convicted, Guerrero could face up to 50 years in prison.
