Tim Allen Moved by Erika Kirk’s Memorial Speech
Tim Allen recently shared on social media how profoundly affected he was by Erika Kirk’s tribute to her late husband, Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist who was murdered. His reflections were particularly striking as they led him to forgive his father’s killer.
Tim Allen, celebrated for his roles in shows and films like “Home Improvement” and “Toy Story,” took to his platform to express his emotional response to Erika’s heartfelt eulogy.
“When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband: ‘That man… that young man… I forgive him,’ that moment deeply affected me. I’ve struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type: ‘I forgive the man who killed my father.’ Peace be with you all,” he posted.
Allen’s father was tragically killed in a car accident caused by a drunk driver when Tim was only 11 years old.
Charlie Kirk, who co-founded Turning Point USA, was shot and killed at the age of 31 during an event at Utah Valley University, marking the beginning of his “American Comeback Tour.” Following his death, Erika stepped into his role as CEO.
During the memorial service, Erika Kirk, who identifies as Christian, publicly forgave Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old alleged shooter.
“Charlie passionately wanted to reach and save the lost boys of the West,” she shared, highlighting how her husband aimed to help young men struggling with direction and purpose. “Charlie wanted to help them.”
She emphasized her husband’s mission to assist young men like the one who took his life.
Recalling the words of Christ, Erika went on: “On the cross, our savior said, ‘Father, forgive them for they [do] not know what they do.’ That man, that young man,” she declared, “I forgive him.”
Her moving speech concluded with a teary standing ovation, as she added: “I forgive him because it was what Christ did and is what Charlie would do.”
