Tim Scott dodges on accepting 2024 election results, says Trump will be president

Sen. Tim Scott (RS.C.) repeatedly dodged questions in an interview Sunday about whether he would commit to accepting the 2024 election results no matter who wins, instead suggesting former President Trump win the White House campaign. He said it would be.

In an interview on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” Kristen Welker told Scott, who is considered a potential running mate for President Trump, that Trump has not accepted his loss in the 2020 presidential election. I pressed him about his refusal to accept the election. If we lose, the result will be 2024.

Welker asked why he wanted to join Trump “given such fundamental differences,” and Scott defended Trump’s recent comments.

Mr. Welker then asked Mr. Scott if he intended to accept the results of the 2024 election.

“At the end of the day, the 47th president of the United States is going to be President Donald Trump. And I’m excited to get back to low inflation, low unemployment,” Scott replied before Welker could interject. Ta.

“Wait, wait, Congressman. Yes or no; yes or no? Are you going to accept the results of the 2024 election no matter who wins?”

“That’s my statement,” Scott replied.

Welker continued to press.

“But just yes or no, do you accept the results of the 2024 election?” Welker asked again.

Scott refused to compromise his position.

“I look forward to President Trump becoming our 47th president. Kristen, you can ask me as many times as you like,” he said, before Welker cut in again and asked, “Please answer yes or no.” Ta.

“The American people are the ones who make the decisions, and President Trump is the one who makes the decisions.”

“I haven’t heard that you are committed to the election results. Do you commit to accepting the election results?”

Mr. Scott then turned to Mr. Welker and his network, saying, “This is why so many Americans believe NBC is an extension of the Democratic Party.”

“At the end of the day, I said what I said. I know the American people’s voice will be heard and I believe that President Trump will be the next president. It’s that simple,” he said. Ta.

Mr. Welker asked again, pointing out that Mr. Scott was a possible running mate, but Mr. Scott reiterated his confidence in Mr. Trump’s victory in 2024 and said, “I’m not going to answer hypothetical questions.” said.
