Sen. Tim Scott, R.S.C., defended his decision to support former President Trump over Nikki Haley in the Republican primary after receiving harsh criticism from New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, saying Scott He implied that he was obligated to support Haley instead.

“There would be no Tim Scott job without Nikki Haley,” Sununu told Fox News on Friday. “Nobody cares what Tim Scott thinks. If he cared, he wouldn't actually have been kicked out of this race three months ago. ”

Ms. Haley appointed Ms. Scott as South Carolina governor in 2012 following the resignation of Sen. Jim DeMint.

Scott said on “Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy” that governors should think twice before commenting on other people's careers.

Tim Scott's hopes of supporting Trump cause a stir in New Hampshire, with Sununu claiming Scott “wouldn't have a job'' without Haley

“Well, it's simple. I also heard Governor Sununu's comments. He was born in third base, your father was a governor, your brother was a U.S. senator. And you're going to give job advice? ?” He said.

“I ran against Strom Thurmond's son and won. I also ran against the governor's namesake son, Carol Campbell Jr., and won. So it wasn't just an easy path to Congress; , and more importantly, Nicky did what he did best for South Carolina. ”

“I'm going to do what's best for America, and that's why I supported Donald Trump,” he added.

Mr. Scott, who was an early front-runner in the presidential race before suspending his campaign in November, joined Mr. Trump at a rally in Concord on Friday night to announce his support.

“In the end, it came down to not joining or supporting someone who can lead this country to the highest possible level, and that was simply Donald Trump,” he said Sunday. Told. “Since I had the opportunity to work with him from 2017 to 2020, we created the highest-ever Opportunity Zones in the nation. Opportunity Zones actually bring more to the poorest communities across the country. We have committed resources.”

“We cut taxes by $2.3 trillion. We worked with the former president to deliver results that would allow Americans to say, 'No, no matter where you live or the color of your skin.' It was great to be raised.'' No matter what coast you're on, whether you're in a blue state or a red state, your life is better because Donald Trump was president. Probably. “It's a table that moves America forward,” Scott added.

Although Scott's presidential campaign has not been exciting, he remains extremely popular among Republican primary voters and his support is coveted by the remaining Republican candidates.
