Sen. Tim Scott (RS.C.) plans to propose and marry his girlfriend, Mindy North, on Saturday night on Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

Scott, 58, confirmed his engagement during an appearance on Sunday Night in America with Trey Gordy. Scott said his own engagement was the second most important decision he made, second only to becoming a Christian.

“There's nothing more important than going to the beach and getting down on one knee and asking Mindy to marry me, and I didn't want politics to get in the way of that sacred day,” Scott told Gordy. He talked about talks with former President Donald Trump seeking support.

Scott introduced Noce as a candidate for the 2024 presidential election during a debate in November. The two reportedly met at church about a year ago and bonded over Bible study.

Scott's engagement comes after he endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Scott, who abandoned his own bid for the White House in November, became the third former Republican presidential candidate to endorse Scott for reelection in the past week.

Late Sunday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis withdrew his candidacy for the White House and endorsed President Trump.

“We need a president who understands that the American people are tired of being fed up,” Scott said, to which the audience responded, “Donald Trump.”

“It's time to unite our party to make sure the only goal we're talking about is removing Joe Biden from office,” Scott later told Fox News.

“Our country can't wait another four years. I don't know if we can get another 10 months,” he said. “The best way to remove Joe Biden from office is to unite the party now behind Donald Trump.”
