Waltz Reflects on Vice Presidential Bid and Future Plans
Governor Tim Waltz of Minnesota recently opened up about how his pursuit of the Vice Presidency in 2024 might have negatively impacted his support back home. This comes as he considers running for another term as governor.
In an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris, he noted, “People get bored of it.” He even admitted that he sometimes feels a bit tired of himself.
As of now, Waltz hasn’t made a final decision on whether he will seek reelection.
Interestingly, Harris shared insights from her upcoming book regarding her choice in selecting Waltz as a running mate, suggesting it was an instinctual decision.
Waltz acknowledged that returning to state politics after a national campaign might seem a bit presumptuous. The assessment from local Democrats has been mixed, with some feeling it may be time for new leadership. “He shouldn’t run for a third term,” expressed Democrat Cindy Jurgensen, signaling a desire for change.
At the recent summer strategy meeting for the Democratic Party in Minneapolis, Waltz voiced concerns about media portrayals of party divisions and how that shapes public perception.
He passionately stated the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the work being done, emphasizing these issues as central to the party’s mission moving forward.
