Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, has “stayed off my hands” in the age of coronavirus. This is a great irony for Walz, who has repeatedly said on the campaign trail that he would “stay off my hands” and who has sought to associate himself with freedom itself.
Throughout his campaign, Walz has sought to pitch Harris and his campaign as the campaign of freedom, using statements asserting that he and Harris “will ensure that you have the power to make your health care decisions.”

“In Minnesota, we respect our neighbors and their personal choices,” Walz repeated, using different wording.
But that hasn’t been the case at all in the coronavirus era, when Gov. Walz mandated coronavirus vaccinations and forced employers and all in-person employees of state government agencies to show proof of vaccination status.
“The committee heard concerns that staff would leave nursing homes and public employment due to mandatory vaccinations and regular testing,” a news anchor reported at the time. A video montage compiled by Breitbart News showcased the impact of Gov. Walz’s vaccination and testing mandates.
“We issued stay-at-home orders. … We closed personal care providers, we closed hairdressers. … We closed social gatherings with other households. Don’t bring other households into your home,” Governor Walz boasted at the time, issuing a list of demands while, in his own recent words, apparently not minding “my job.”
Check it out — eccentric Waltz looking oddly elated as he makes his entrance at a Kamala rally:
“In-person dining will be suspended. … Fitness centers, adult and youth sports. … Venues such as bowling alleys, bingo halls and theaters must also be suspended. … As well as receptions, private parties and other celebrations, outdoor events and entertainment. … Pause some social gatherings,” Gov. Walz announced during that time.
Other footage from that era shows Walz enforcing mask mandates and bragging that mitigation measures would not be lifted, apparently not trusting people to make their own decisions at the time.
In another video, Walz claims that mask mandates work, a claim that has since been proven false.
It is also worth noting that in 2020, Governor Walz created a hotline for Minnesota residents to report their neighbors who may have violated lockdown orders, a prime example of the hypocrisy of Governor Walz’s repeated statements on the campaign trail that “we respect the right of our neighbors to make personal choices.”
Obviously, that hasn’t been the case in coronavirus times.
