Tim Walz Mocked for Not Jumping on JD Vance’s Second Debate Challenge: ‘Liar and a Coward!’

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (Democrat) is a “liar and a coward,” Andy Surabian, a Republican strategist and former senior adviser to the campaign of Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), said Thursday after the Harris-Walz campaign said it would hold only three debates — two for president and one for vice president.

Walz made a big splash by agreeing to a one-off debate scheduled for Oct. 1 with Vance, former President Donald Trump’s running mate.

“See you on October 1st, JD,” Walz wrote after CBS News offered four possible dates for the candidates’ debate.

Vance upped the ante and pressured Walz to even hold a second debate.

“The American people have a right to attend as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has already challenged Kamala to three debates. I am open to not only the CBS debate on October 1st, but also the CNN debate on September 18th,” Vance said.

“I look forward to seeing you at both!” he exclaimed.

But the Harris campaign on Thursday sought to put an end to the Trump-Harris and Vance-Waltz debates, declaring that the campaign would only agree to three in total, including one vice presidential debate, meaning that Waltz, as of this writing, had rejected Vance’s multiple debate requests.

“Wait, after @Tim_Walz goes on a bullish streak saying he’s looking forward to debating @JDVance, he’s going to back down and refuse to accept the second vice presidential debate on CNN?,” Surabian asked.

“It seems like he’s really leaning into his image as a liar and a coward!” exclaimed the Republican strategist.

The comments came after Michael Tyler, communications director for the Harris-Waltz campaign, released a statement declaring that “the debate discussion is over.”

“Donald Trump has accepted our offer of three debates, two presidential debates and one vice presidential debate,” he said, bizarrely suggesting that Trump might not attend, even though he participated in one debate with President Joe Biden before being ousted by the Democratic Party. He also ignored Trump’s requests for more debates.

“Assuming Donald Trump does indeed debate Vice President Kamala Harris on September 10th, Governor Walz will meet with J.D. Vance on October 1st and the American people will have one more opportunity to see the Vice President and Donald Trump on the debate stage in October,” he said, asserting that the campaign believes “voters deserve to see candidates for the nation’s highest office share competing visions for their futures.”

Ironically, he did not mention that the elites’ crowning of Harris has alienated his own party from 14 million Democrats who voted for Biden in the primary, nor did he explain why Harris is avoiding a third debate, as Trump has suggested, or why Walz appears to be avoiding a second debate.
