Hope Walz Shares Family Fast Food Video After Governor Withdraws Re-Election Bid

On Monday, social media influencer Hope Walz posted a video featuring her family, which includes Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, enjoying fast food just after he announced his withdrawal from the race for a third term.

Governor Walz, who is a Democratic vice presidential candidate for the upcoming 2024 election, made the decision following a viral video by independent journalist Nick Shirley. This video focused on a Somali-managed child care center in Minnesota and highlighted issues of welfare fraud that gained national attention. In the TikTok video, the Walz family shared what they ordered from Culver’s, a regional fast food chain popular in the Midwest.

In the video, Hope Walz tells viewers about her order, while her brother shares that he got a butter burger and a concrete mixer—explaining that he was going all out as it was his last meal before wisdom tooth surgery. Hope then directs the camera at the governor for his order of crinkle cut fries.

“We’re having Culver’s tonight. I’ll tell you this: their mushroom swiss hamburgers are quite the challenge to eat, along with the onion rings,” Governor Walz remarked. Hope then shifted focus to order chicken tenders and fries.

Federal authorities are now looking into a scam that reportedly involved approximately $9 billion linked to Minnesota’s welfare programs. An investigation is underway regarding allegations that some of the funds misappropriated in this scheme may have found their way to al-Shabaab, a terrorist organization based in Somalia. Governor Walz criticized both Shirley and former President Donald Trump, who recently that noted he was ending his re-election efforts.

“I can’t approve of the actions from political leaders in Washington, who take advantage of our situation to gain points,” Walz expressed, adding that these individuals have no real intention of aiding in resolving the issue.

Allegations also surfaced regarding state employees who reportedly engaged in systematic retaliation against a whistleblower who alerted officials to the misconduct back in November. Since Minnesota’s welfare fraud scandal became known, similar claims have emerged from other states, like Maine and Ohio, involving Somali scammers.

The Department of Health and Human Services has pointed out that Somalia’s ambassador to the United Nations may have connections to several suspicious companies operating in Ohio.

During his 2024 campaign, Governor Walz attracted attention for a mishap while trying to reload his $2,100 shotgun on a hunting trip.
