Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz does not exactly have aura, as the kids say.
What’s with Democrats this week being cringe and weird and deeply unserious? Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was just caught on camera hand-feeding a Dorito to a liberal journalist who was on her knees — the entire stunt was borderline sexual. Now, Mrs. Walz is trying to rile up her audience with a rendition of a college fight song.

I don’t think I’m alone in begging politicians, Republican or Democrat, to at least put on a facade becoming of an elected official, someone who respects the power of their office and is dignified in how they handle themselves in public. In private, be as silly as you please. But when you are out on the campaign trail, when you are pleading with Americans to hand you and your husband more power come Election Day, you should show a bit more seriousness. These are the kinds of little acts that slowly chip away at civic trust, and it’s why Americans have very little respect for our supposed political elites and moral betters.
