Timothy Busfield’s Role Edited Out of New Amazon/MGM Film Amid Allegations

A new movie from Amazon and MGM Studios has seen edits made due to sexual abuse allegations against actor Timothy Busfield. According to someone familiar with the project, his role in the romantic comedy You Deserve Each Other has been removed—mirroring a similar situation faced by Kevin Spacey in All the Money in the World after the #MeToo movement.

Filming has wrapped, and sources indicate that Busfield portrays Barney, the father of Naomi, a character played by Fahey. However, a release date for the movie has yet to be announced.

Recent reports highlighted that last week, Busfield voluntarily turned himself in to New Mexico authorities after a warrant was issued for him on two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse. Furthermore, the agency Innovative Artists, which is based in Los Angeles and New York, has dropped him as a client.

Details about the allegations point to incidents where Busfield allegedly inappropriately touched a young boy on the set of the television series The Cleaning Lady, which he was overseeing. The Albuquerque Police Department’s criminal complaint reveals that the boy, who was seven at the time, reported being touched several times over his clothes, and on another occasion at age eight, he claimed to have been touched multiple times as well.

The boy’s twin brother also stated that he witnessed Busfield touching the boy but chose to stay silent out of fear of repercussions.

When authorities questioned Busfield last fall, he denied the allegations, suggesting the boys’ mother might be seeking revenge after substituting them on the show. He described the working environment as playful, insisting that any interactions were innocent, like picking up and tickling the boys.

“I’m surrounded by people all the time, you know? There was never anything strange going on,” he noted in an interview. He added, “I can’t recall picking up those boys. I remember lifting another boy who was following and he just giggled and seemed happy.”
