Timothy Busfield Appears in Court Facing Serious Charges
Actor Timothy Busfield made his first court appearance in New Mexico amidst serious allegations of sexual abuse involving two boys on the set of a Fox series he directed. His attorney revealed on Wednesday that he successfully completed an independent polygraph test to support his claim of innocence.
Busfield, known for his role in “West Wing,” is facing two counts of sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse. His lawyer, Larry Stein, emphasized that the 68-year-old fully denies the accusations, calling them “completely false.”
During the hearing, Busfield was dressed in an orange prison uniform and offered no justifications for the situation he finds himself in. Prior to turning himself in to authorities, he expressed in a video message that the allegations were “all lies,” insisting, “I did nothing to those little boys.”
He was taken into custody by Albuquerque police after being accused of having inappropriate relations with 11-year-old twin boys during the filming of “Cleaning Women” in 2024. Reports indicate that the alleged misconduct began in 2022 when the boys were just 7 years old.
The investigation into Busfield started after a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital reported suspected abuse following an examination of one of the children. Interestingly, lawyers for Warner Bros., the company behind “Cleaning Women,” stated that an initial independent investigation found no evidence to back up the claims made against him.
Stein suggested that the allegations stemmed from a desire for revenge. He mentioned that the boys’ mother expressed a need for payback against an actress after her sons were excluded from the final season of the show.
Adding to the complexity of this case, Busfield is now facing accusations from a third alleged victim—a 16-year-old girl from Sacramento, California, purportedly abused several years ago. Currently, he remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque without the option for bail.
