Titans rookie Jarvis Brownlee Jr. shares message after assisting single mom

Tennessee Titans rookie cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. shared a powerful message this week after an act of generosity at a Nashville restaurant went viral on social media. The single mother of six said it helped her pay rent and buy winter clothing.

Waitress Christy Johnson recalled the moment in a social media post. She said she took it upon herself to further bless her and her family after NFL players asked for autographs.

“He then requested my Cash App and sent me more than enough money to pay the rest of my rent and buy winter clothes for my kids,” she wrote in the post.

“He doesn't even know how much I needed help.”

Brownlee, who spoke to reporters about the matter this week, said he planned to help out a few people when he went to dinner with his family in Nashville after this Sunday's game ahead of Christmas.

There he met Johnson and heard she was a single mother of six children.

Brownlee is a rookie with the Tennessee Titans.

“That's all I wanted to hear,” he said. “My mother was a single mother raising three children on her own, and I know that raising six children was harder than what my mother went through. So for me, It touched my family just to have the opportunity to help her. It touched my mother's heart.”

Brownlee sent a message to Johnson in an interview with FOX 17, thanking him for allowing him to help his family.

“God bless you, Christy,” said Ms. Brownlee. “Thank you for letting me help you. It's something I've been planning ever since I entered the profession at this level. This is my dream, and one of my dreams is where it came from. But it's always been about giving back, whether it's to my community or other communities.

“Nashville is a part of me now. It's home,” he added. “I look forward to giving back to other families. I hope you can prepare dinner. Thank you, God bless you, and I look forward to seeing you again.”
