Today’s WNBA viewing guide: The Connecticut Sun face the streaking Washington Mystics

There was a ton of action in the WNBA on Friday night, led by a showdown between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky. Ten teams participated, with the Aces, Liberty, Wings and Fever all winning.

The only WNBA action on Saturday is an afternoon matchup between the Connecticut Sun and the Washington Mystics. The Sun currently hold the No. 2 seed, one game behind the Minnesota Lynx, and will be looking to hold off Minnesota, who have been the WNBA's best performer since the Olympic break.

The Connecticut Sun (22-8) will face the Washington Mystics (9-22) at 3 p.m. ET.

The Mystics are on a roll, having won three straight games for the first time this season. The team is led by Arielle Atkins, who is averaging 15.3 points this season. Brittney Sykes has been productive since returning from injury, averaging 13.1 points, and Stephanie Dolson continues to make an impact in the midst of a historically efficient three-point shooting season. Dolson is averaging 10.3 points on 47.6% three-point shooting.

Sykes exploded for 28 points in the Mystics' win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, then added 20 points in a crucial game against the Seattle Storm on Monday.

“My teammates have the utmost confidence that I'm going to make the right play, whether that's making a pass when I need to or scoring,” Sykes said after the win.

The Mystics lost often in key games early in the season, but recorded their third consecutive close victory with a 74-70 win over the Sky on Wednesday.

The Sun, meanwhile, have been solid defensively this season but have faltered offensively at times. Connecticut has been led by DeWanna Bonner (16.1 ppg), Marina Mabry (14.7 ppg) and Dijonai Carrington (12.8 ppg). The Sun beat Liberty last Friday for their biggest win of the season, but then lost a close game to the Fever. They'll look to get back on track on Saturday.

The Suns are 3-0 against the Mystics this season, with their most recent win coming in overtime.
