Daniel Jones' tumultuous tenure with the New York Giants came to an end last week. After initially benching the 2019 first-round draft pick, the team granted the quarterback's request to be released.
The decision to part ways with Jones was said to be mutual, with Giants president and co-owner John Mara saying that moving on from Jones was “in the best interest of both him and the team.” Jones quickly cleared waivers and was traded to the Minnesota Vikings. He is expected to be a backup to starting pitcher Sam Darnold.
Tom Brady, seven-time Super Bowl champion and lead analyst for NFL on FOX, was on hand to call the Dallas Cowboys' Thanksgiving game.
The Cowboys hosted the Giants, and at one point during the broadcast Brady shared his thoughts on Jones' unceremonious ejection.

Brady suggested that if he were in Jones' shoes, he would have handled the situation differently.
“I don't know how that situation came about, but to think that you would ask for your release from a team that has given you so much is probably not how I would have handled it.” brady said during Thursday's broadcast. “I always wanted to earn the trust and respect of my teammates no matter the situation. I knew I was doing what was best for the team because that's the most important thing.”

The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback acknowledges the unique challenges that football players can face at different points in their careers, but helping the team he was on always came first. He said that it is a matter of concern.
“There are some unusual things going on in the NFL,” Brady said. “Everyone makes personal choices. I think we all face different challenges at some point in our careers. I faced it in college, and there are some things I want Things didn't go as well as they did, but the most important people to me were all in the locker room, and I didn't mind being asked to be the safety on the scout team or being the quarterback on the scout team. I was going to do whatever I could to help the team win.”
Shortly after Jones was benched, reports surfaced that the quarterback was lining up at practice as a safety on the Giants' defensive scout team. He was also seen participating in passing drills with veteran quarterback Tim Boyle, who is listed as the third signal-caller on the Giants' depth chart.
