It’s a package deal!
Former NFL legends Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski will team up for a notable flag football game next year.
This much-anticipated event, known as the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, is a collaboration involving Michael Rubin, Fanatics, Fox Sports, and OBB Media.
Set for March 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the annual “Riyadh Season,” the lineup promises star players like Saquon Barkley, CeeDee Lamb, Christian McCaffrey, Sauce Gardner, Miles Garrett, Brock Bowers, Max Crosby, Tyreek Hill, and Jay Anz.
Even though the official team composition isn’t finalized, Brady has already made it clear that he’ll be joining forces with Gronk, who also boasts an illustrious eleven seasons in the league.
“I’ll never stand against him,” Brady remarked about his long-time teammate from the New England Patriots days, and later with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Interestingly, Brady mentioned that NFL general managers have reached out to him about selecting three teams for the event.
He also expressed his commitment to maintaining a competitive spirit: “I’m still very competitive in what I do.”
Currently serving as Fox’s top NFL analyst, Brady teased the flag football announcement during a broadcast of the Eagles-Chiefs game. “I’m definitely excited to showcase something I’ve been planning for a while,” he noted.
Brady hung up his cleats in 2023, while Gronk retired a year earlier, in 2022.
The Fanatics Flag Football Classic represents another collaboration between Rubin and Brady and will be broadcast on Fox Sports and Tubi.
The format will feature three teams of eight players in a round-robin tournament, with the top two teams advancing to the championship. The competition will adhere to Olympic-style flag football rules on a 50-yard field, employing a 5-on-5 setup with two halves lasting 20 minutes each.
