Tom Cruise shares strong thoughts on his potential retirement from Hollywood.

Tom Cruise Eyes Career Longevity Amid Stunts

Performing stunts in “Mission: Impossible” can be quite perilous for actors, regardless of their age. Yet, 62-year-old Tom Cruise is determined to keep challenging himself, aiming for a film career that extends into his triple digits.

During a recent interview, he expressed hopes of continuing to act until he reaches 82, which is the current age of Harrison Ford. “I said I was actually going to make a movie in my 80s,” he shared, adding that he plans to make movies well into his 100s.

Cruise is known for doing his own stunts, and he remarked, “I will never stop. I will never stop acting, whether it’s dramas or comedies—I’m excited about it all.”

In the latest film installment, “Top Gun: Maverick,” Cruise confronts a series of high-stakes scenarios, including an intense aerial battle and a gripping underwater sequence.

So far, he feels well-suited to the workload he’s taken on.

The actor is often described as being youthful, with a recent review highlighting that he appears “more high school senior than senior.”

To maintain his health, Cruise follows a strict diet regime that involves having about 15 snacks daily, primarily consisting of steamed fish and vegetables. He reportedly works out five days a week, yet he indulges in larger meals before performing stunts.

While centenarians are rare in Hollywood, some actors do continue working into their 90s, like 94-year-old June Squibb in a recent comedy and 91-year-old Rita Moreno in a road trip movie.

At the premiere, Cruise mentioned that this could truly be the last “Mission: Impossible” film. “It’s the final!” he declared emphatically. “It’s not called ‘final’ for nothing.” However, he’s also recently hinted at potential sequels to some of his other popular movies.

“Yeah, we talk about a lot of different stories and what we can do,” Cruise said. He reflected on how it took him 35 years to understand “Top Gun: Maverick,” indicating that discussions are ongoing about projects like “Thunder Day” and further “Top Gun” ventures.
