Tom Emmer Criticizes Democrats and Progressive Journalists for 'Hate America Rally'

Emmer Critiques Democrats Over “Hate Americans Rally”

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) has expressed strong disapproval of Democrats and left-leaning journalists regarding their support for an upcoming event dubbed the “Hate Americans Rally.”

In remarks made to Breitbart News, Emmer specifically targeted Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), accusing him of “holding the government hostage” due to concerns about pro-Hamas factions within the Democratic Party.

“Chuck Schumer is holding the government hostage because he’s afraid of the pro-Hamas, pro-terrorists in his party,” Emmer stated. He went on to point out the irony of military personnel risking their lives while Schumer allegedly prioritizes keeping the government shut down to cater to groups supporting the rally.

In a video from a press conference, Emmer discusses the ongoing government shutdown, suggesting that Democrats are attempting to gain political traction by aligning with what he called the party’s “terrorist wing” ahead of the scheduled rally.

“This is for one thing only, to score political points with their party’s terrorist organization, which is planning to hold an America Hate Rally in Washington, D.C., next week,” he asserted.

Former Congressman Joe Walsh (R-Ill.), who previously opposed Trump, shared a separate video in which House Speaker Mike Johnson addressed the forthcoming rally on October 18th. Johnson mentioned that groups described as “Antifa crowds, pro-Hamas crowds, and Marxists” were set to convene at a shopping mall in Washington, D.C. He even claimed that some House Democrats were allegedly selling merchandise related to the rally.

Walsh expressed concern about his former party’s apprehension regarding these protests, urging unity among Americans on October 18th to create a significant impact.

According to reports, what Republicans are labeling the “Hate America Rally” has been referred to by others as the “No Kings Protest March.” This movement began as a response to a military parade organized by the White House in June, leading to one of the largest demonstrations against former President Trump since his return to office. Organizers at that time highlighted the peaceful nature of the protests and avoided planning events specifically in Washington to minimize conflict.

In June, the Trump administration reportedly downplayed the “No Kings” protests due to low attendance, a situation compounded by a high-profile celebration of the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary, which featured a large military parade and entertainment.

Recent comments from Emmer and Johnson regarding the “Hate America Rally” come amid a Harvard/Harris College poll that indicates 68% of Democrats support Israel over Hamas, with only 32% expressing support for Hamas. The survey involved 2,413 registered voters and was conducted from October 1st to 2nd.
