Tom Hanks Spotted on New York City Subway

This week, Tom Hanks caught some attention while riding the subway in New York City.

The actor, known for his role in “Saving Private Ryan,” was seen sitting quietly on a train on Tuesday, donning a face mask, glasses, and a beanie, as reported by various sources.

It’s unclear if other passengers recognized the two-time Oscar winner, as he seemed to be left undisturbed during his journey.

Earlier this month, Hanks shared his fondness for the subway while chatting with Jimmy Kimmel when the show was in Brooklyn.

While riding the No. 6 train, Hanks expressed his admiration for the subway system, calling it a “miracle” for moving around 7 million people daily.

At 69, he reminisced about moving to New York City at 22, settling in the bustling Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood.

He mentioned getting a driver after starring in his first Broadway show, but noted how busy Manhattan gets—so much so that he started opting for the subway instead.

“Don’t worry, it’s just a short walk,” he would say when dropped off at Columbus Circle.

In a past interview, Hanks highlighted why he enjoys the subway, noting that “no one looks at anyone.” He remarked that sometimes someone might acknowledge you with a thumbs up, but the overall anonymity is something he appreciates. “You just fold right back,” he added.

Interestingly, Hanks isn’t the only star to take the subway amidst the New York City hustle. Celebrities like Harrison Ford, Sarah Jessica Parker, Neil Patrick Harris, and others have been seen riding the trains, perhaps finding it easier than navigating through traffic in the busy city.
