Tom Holland showcases new Spider-Man suit in initial set photos from 'Brand New Day'

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Starts Filming in Glasgow

There’s this whole notion about power and responsibility, right?

Well, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” kicked off filming in Glasgow, Scotland on August 1. Fresh pictures from the set show Tom Holland, age 29, in his impressive new Spider-Man suit.

Details about this latest web-slinging adventure are still under wraps, but it seems Holland’s character—often referred to as the Netherlands—might be donning the same homemade outfit seen at the end of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021.

This time around, he’s traded in the red and black suits from his earlier outings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the armored Iron Spider suit from “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.” His latest outfit appears to lean into a more classic design—think red and blue, reminiscent of the older cartoons.

The new costume features prominent webbing, a bolder, reimagined spider emblem on his chest, and a functional web-shooter on his wrist.

Interestingly, Holland teased this new look on Instagram just before filming began. He even dropped a release date for the film that fans are eagerly awaiting: “Are you ready? 7.31.2026.”

In the early scenes filmed, Holland can be seen both with and without his iconic mask while atop an armored vehicle. It’s a bit hard to tell if he’s filming a specific scene or just having a moment; he was seen smiling and waving at someone off-camera.

Additional photos from the first filming day showed Holland jumping and swinging, really getting into the character with his new suit.

Apart from showcasing the latest costume, the set was cleverly transformed to resemble Lower Manhattan. There were scenes with an armored vehicle cruising down Franklin Street, surrounded by overturned cars and yellow taxi cabs, which creates a chaotic New York City vibe.

Crowds, acting as NYC locals, were also seen rushing by, with emergency services vehicles in the background. It’s a packed scene where Holland’s Spider-Man is trying to keep the chaos at bay.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will follow the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” leading into “Avengers: Doomsday.”

Alongside Holland, his fiancée Zendaya (Michelle “MJ” Jones Watson) and Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds) will return, joined by newcomers like Sadie Sink from “Stranger Things” and Liza Colon-Zayas from “The Bear.”

There’s also been buzz about returning MCU favorites like Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk). It’s quite the cast shaping up.

In a recent conversation, Holland reflected on his character’s journey, emphasizing the emotional weight left behind at the end of “No Way Home.” He mentioned that Peter is determined to focus on street-level crime rather than world-ending events. It’s an interesting shift, really.

Earlier this year, Holland revealed the title “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” during Cinemacon 2025. He jokingly remarked about the challenges of filming while juggling another project, telling fans that this film signifies a fresh start following the cliffhanger from the previous movie. He added a lighthearted note, ensuring he wouldn’t spill any spoilers.
