Tom Homan dismisses Angie Nixon's allegation of racial profiling by ICE.

Homan Calls Statement Absurd

Tom Homan, the White House border czar, has responded strongly to Florida Senate candidate Angie Nixon’s claims that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents engage in racial profiling against Black Americans. In a discussion with Kayleigh McEnany on “Saturday in America,” Homan defended law enforcement personnel and cautioned that sanctuary city policies allow dangerous undocumented immigrants to be released back into society. He made it clear that ICE is directing its efforts at these sanctuary areas.

Homan dismissed Nixon’s accusations as “ridiculous,” asserting that immigration agents do not single out individuals based on their race. “We don’t arrest people based on the color of their skin. I’m basically an equal opportunity deporter. Last year, I deported individuals to 180 different countries,” he stated. He emphasized that it doesn’t matter where someone comes from; if they are in the U.S. illegally, they will face deportation.

Nixon, who recently secured her position as the Florida Democratic primary candidate, has made it clear that among her top priorities is the closure of detention centers and the abolition of ICE, calling mass incarceration and mass deportation “moral failures.” She further claims that ICE’s actions cannot be trusted and describes their tactics as “terroristic,” as outlined on her campaign website.

“What they’re doing is state-sanctioned violence. There has been a history of this in the Black community, and ICE is being used as a weaponized force,” Nixon said during her appearances.

In response, Homan underscored that ICE officials operate within the law, asserting that necessary evidence is always sought before any enforcement actions. “That’s a ridiculous statement. We don’t racially profile. We have reasonable suspicion before contacting anyone, and we need probable cause to make an arrest,” he clarified. He also expressed concerns that sanctuary policies amplify the risks surrounding immigration enforcement, referencing incidents of violence linked to these policies.

Additionally, the Department of Homeland Security further denied Nixon’s claims regarding racial profiling, labeling her statements as “disgusting, reckless, and categorically FALSE.” They reiterated that enforcement is guided strictly by immigration status, not by race or ethnicity.
