Investigation Into Rep. Ilhan Omar Confirmed by White House Border Czar
During an appearance on “The Sunday Briefing,” Tom Homan, the White House border czar, acknowledged that the Department of Homeland Security is examining allegations related to Representative Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota. However, he refrained from sharing specifics about what he referred to as an “ongoing criminal investigation.”
When asked directly if there is evidence suggesting Omar committed immigration or naturalization fraud, Homan chose not to comment, simply stating, “I know things are going on, but I can’t give specifics of what’s happening.”
He added, “If someone committed an immigration violation, if someone committed marriage fraud or anything like that, regardless if they’re a congressman or not, no one’s above the law. So I’ll leave it at that. We’ll let HSI, Homeland Security Investigations, continue the investigation.”
Possible Links to Immigration Allegations
Later, when pressed on whether he was confirming an investigation into Omar, Homan responded, “I’m confirming that ICE is, yeah — look, I said months ago that there’s something that’s been reported and needs to be looked at.”
Omar has faced longstanding rumors regarding her marriage to a man whom critics claim is her brother, raising suspicions of immigration fraud. She has consistently denied these allegations, which remain unproven in public records. In December, Omar dismissed the accusations as “bigoted lies,” asserting through social media that former President Trump was obsessed with her.
Homan’s remarks come on the heels of comments made by DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin on a podcast, where he suggested, “Something’s going to happen… We know that she married her brother to try to bring him to the United States. We know he now lives in London.”
Potential Consequences of the Investigation
Mullin further expressed the possibility of uncovering more issues related to family migration and illegal activities that may have permitted their entry into the United States. He stated, “If we can prove it, that you shouldn’t have been here in the first place, we will deport you.”
Homan did not reveal any details regarding potential evidence or charges against Omar. In May, Vice President JD Vance indicated the Justice Department was investigating whether she had committed immigration fraud. Vance commented, “It certainly seems like something fishy is there, but everybody’s entitled to equal justice under the law.”
His remarks were made after a podcast discussion in March, where he indicated he had consulted with a White House immigration advisor about potential legal action against Omar. He expressed then, “We think Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America.”
Denaturalization Process Explained
Homan described the denaturalization process for confirmed cases of immigration fraud as “very serious,” explaining, “If someone lies through that process to becoming a citizen, and we can prove they, in fact, lied or misrepresented themselves, we can absolutely denaturalize them. We’ve done it before many times over the last 40 years I’ve been around, so it’s a process.”
Fox News Digital has reached out to Omar’s office for comments regarding these developments.
