Music icon Sir Tom Jones was forced to cancel his concerts in Southern California due to a severe bout of the flu that struck him unexpectedly.
The celebrated Welsh singer fell ill on Monday, just before he was set to perform in Los Angeles and San Diego.
“I’ve had a wonderful time these past few weeks, completing 20 shows and performing for fantastic audiences across the USA, but I’ve been hit unexpectedly with a nasty case of the flu,” Jones shared in a post.
“Following my doctor’s advice, I sadly have to reschedule tonight’s show in Los Angeles and tomorrow’s show in San Diego,” he explained further.
His Los Angeles show was originally scheduled for Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at The Greek Theatre, but it will now take place on November 4. As for the San Diego performance, it was intended to happen on Tuesday at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, also at 7:30 p.m., but has been moved to November 3.
Currently, Jones is in the midst of his “Come Gather Round” tour, which had him recently wrapping up three performances in Las Vegas.
The North American leg of the tour began on September 18 in Highland Park, Illinois, after he kicked off the worldwide tour back in June in England.
Known for timeless hits like “She’s a Lady,” “Sex Bomb,” and “Delilah,” Jones was knighted by the late Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in 2006.
